I am a first time Maui visitor. I will be traveling with my wife and no children. My budget is modest. I am willing to spend up to $2500 for a 9 night stay and have found several one bedroom & studio condos available at the Aston Whaler and Honua Kai Resorts. My sister is employed by Starwood and I can get a room at the Westin Mau for $89 plus the resort fee and taxes for approx. $130 a night. The other positive is all the food and room service is also 1/2 price making this a very good budget option choice. However, I have read alot of terrible reviews about the Westin Maui and I am a little apprehensive about this hotel. I think the Whaler Village location is a positive for this hotel as well as the Aston Whaler. The Houna Kai Resort looks beautiful but it seems to be not in a prime location. I was just looking for someones opinion on which choice you would make having seen or been to any of these resorts also keeping in mind the great price I am paying to stay at the Westin. The price is not my only option and I am willing to spend more to stay at a different resort if one believes the Westin Maui would not be suitable. We are in our mid 40's so enjoy the nightlife but do not want to spend it listening to screaming kids. I understand there will be some children because we will be staying here in mid August.
