Depends on what they mean by Worcester Highway. The actual Worcester Highway is a two-lane road, speed limit 50 mph, if the wikipedia article on it is correct. However, it parallels US113, a 4-lane divided highway. Ocean Highway is US 13. Also known as Lankford Highway, and it's the one that goes over/through the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel. The one you wanted to avoid.

So, what's going on here? Are you still trying to decide where to go, or are you coming to Virginia Beach for sure?

HI ! I don't know what it means by Worcester Hwy either..... do you think it's not taking us thru the CBBT??? I think it mentioned 264 though, right?? We are 95% coming to VB. (still worried about flash floods) but it's hard because as I said for 12 yrs we've been going to the same place each summer that we like, but felt like we should jazz it up and do something different, but at the same time I'm scared that I won't like it as much because of the crowds and loud music. I like the oceanfront view and the surrey bikes on the boardwalk and oceanfront dining, but not sure if antique places are going to be good.

Where's your starting point? If you're starting in NY/NJ, coming down I-95 to Richmond, and take the 460 route, you won't be going over the CBBT. However, if you're ocming down through Delaware/Maryland (this route), the CBBT is in your route. Wasn't this discussed with you before? Oh, yes, found the thread: tripadvisor.com/ShowTopic-g58277-i63-k364688…

I was just thinking the same thing as Zoey. These are the exact same directions as posted and asked about May22 and May 23. There's some kind of a circular pattern here.

I just drove down to VB from the same area and took 13 most of the way. If you follow your directions it will take you at least an extra hour

I grew up in DE and have lived in Va Beach for 25 years. I make the trip up to DE about 10 times a year. Going Rt. 113 will take you only about 15 minutes longer. Some prefer it as it does have fewer lights, but 13 is fine too.

Zoey & Explorer - Sorry ! I forgot all about that post! I have to check what they said. Are they the same GPS directions??

Lynn VB - Is 113 on my directions? Is that what "Worcester Hwy" is ???

I hope the GPS takes us directly. I says 6 1/2 hours, so that seems faster than Mapquest (7 1/2)

OK - thanks Zoey. I found the notes that Worcester Hwy IS 113 IN Maryland... great!

Today I bought a VA map for the trip. In the previous post someone mentioned that the GPS is taking me along the coast vs down the middle of the peninsula on Rt 13.

I just checked the map and I don't see a Route 60 anywhere off Rt 113! Help!!

Which one is less traffic / faster ? 113 or 13?

What should I do? Does it flood on 113 because on the map there are swamps and water...... :(

Thanks!!!!!!

113 less traffic fewer lights but will take you about 15 minutes longer.

No flooding either way.
