lodging close to sandbridge

Hi,

We are coming for a 4-day summer vacation during the 4th of July week. Mainly will go to the sandbridge beach and the national wild life refuge. Yet the Sandbridge condo does not take reservations that are less than a week. Plus we really don't need a full house for just three of us. Can anyone offer a lodging option that is close by yet affordable?

Thanks!

The closest hotels are at the resort area / boardwalk along Atlantic Avenue.

Is it cost-prohibitive to rent the week but stay just the 4 days?

Hi, Wendymath,

Thanks for the info. Yeah it looks like a bit too expensive to rent a codo@sandbrige for a week; besides, I cannot find a property small enough for just three of us. How would the Chespeake area sound if we don't ask for a property close by the beach? Would the driving distancebearable? If yes, do you have any recommendations for hotels in that area.

Thanks in advance!

If you can't get a hotel in the resort area, the next closest would be a hotel somewhere off either Euclid or Bonney Road which would be roughly 15 miles from Sandbridge. Then off Greenwich Rd are several hotels putting you about 20 miles to Sandbridge. If you go to Chesapeake, the hotels around Crossway Blvd put you 24 miles to the beach. The drive is interstate and then 4-lane divided highway. Traffic can be heavy depending on the time of day, but it moves.

Hotels around Bonney and Euclid: The Westin, Hilton Garden Inn, Candlewood Suites, In Town Suites, Crowne Plaza, Days Inn, Extended Stay America.

Hotels around Greenwich: Hampton Inn, Holiday Inn, Red Roof, LaQuinta, Spring Hill Suites, TownePlace Suites, Courtyard by Marriott, Homewood Suites

Hotels around Crossways Blvd: Residence Inn, Aloft, Comfort Suites, Sun Suites, Hilton Garden Inn, Homewood Suites, Fairfield Inn & Suites, Courtyard

You could also check out the Founders Inn and Spa. FoundersInn.com. Its on Indian River road at 64. About 14 miles from Sandbridge. Straight shot down Indian River road (except for about one mile of retail and traffic lights) the rest nice country road to Pungo and Sandbridge.

Thanks for the advice. I agree Founders Inn is a nice choice, especially for a romantic getaway. My husband and I celebrated our anniversary there some years ago. This time, however, with a hyperactive boy tagged along, we thought we might be better off with some place that will be more tolerable to the kids. :)
