Sandbridge question please...

Hi everyone. We will be in Virginia Beach on September 6th. staying at the Four Sails condo. Would like to know how far Sandbridge is from there and what there is to do there. Is it similar to VB? Was looking for something to see while we are there. Thanks..Laura

Sandbridge is about a 20-30 minute drive. It's a residential beach. The big attraction though is at the far end (add another 10 minutes to the travel time):

Sandbridge is very much an "Outer Banks" type of area. As Wendy said it is a primarily residential area, though many of the homes are vacation rentals. There is no boardwalk, only a few restaurants, a couple of souvenir shops, and a looong uncrowded beach. Dunes, quiet and a slower pace than the resort area. Little Island park is a very nice place to spend a day trip. Baja reataurant has an awesome patio and 'backyard' to watch the sunset across the back bay, not to mention great food. It really does feel like Sandbridge 'runs on island time'

As a alternate suggestion you can park at the market public parking (north end of SB across from fire department station 17) and visit the north end and public beach area. Walk to a few restaurants and shops. But I do think that as previously suggested by the DE and BudY that Little Island Park and Back Bay NWR are definitely worth the drive down from the resort strip.

September is a great time of the year to visit VB and SB. Enjoy!

If you do head to Sandbridge and need a good place to stop for food - check out Margie and Ray's - delicious seafood restaurant on Sandbridge Road.
