Where is good to ....

stay in Williamsburg...In '04,hubbie,myself & 2 kids stayed in the Ramada in Williamsburg, NEVER AGAIN !!..(didn't know about TR back then) This year we are going to stay with family in Richmond and intend to drive up to Williamsburg to do 1 day shopping (for mom!), 1 day Bausch gardens (will be first in the gate as we had plenty of practice in Disney last year!) and 1 day Watercounty...So looking at a 2 night stay.

We also intend to drive down from Richmond just to do historic Williamsburg with the kids for 1 day.

Our intention is to buy the Bausch/WC tkts from the Bausch website where you can get 7 days access..Or does anyone know of a better option..

Will obviously have a car, but want a 'nice' reasonable family hotel..Any suggestions would be appreciated..

There are many places to stay in the immediate vicinity of Williamsburg. I suggest you start with the reviews and deals of lodgings that appear just to the left of this forum.

Typically the Busch Gardens/Water Country website offers the best ticket prices; remember it is usually not necessary to buy the tickets in advance, unless the price specifically states that it is a "web-only" special.

Enjoy your visit.

Many hotels contract with Busch Gardens to sell discount passes for them. You can usually get the passes at a few dollars off purchasing at a hotel that re-sells for the park.

As far as the room & rate goes, what time of year were you looking to travel?

That time-frame is a peak time for this area. If you can't find the rates you are looking for directly in Williamsburg, many travelers will end up staying outside of the immediate 'touristy' area to do so. Newport News neighbors Williamsburg, and is an easy straight shot down the interstate, about 20 minutes or so. You may find lower rates there. When I travel, I find that I avoid the headaches of in-town traffic, & save time & money by staying just outside touristy areas, but it depends on your own preferences of course. If so, I would suggest a hotel convenient to the interstate, such as the Mulberry Inn, Point Plaza or the Holiday Inn Hotel & Suites- those are all nice hotels with great AAA ratings. The Mulberry Inn would be about 15 minutes away from Williamsburg. Their rooms include a deluxe hot continental breakfast, & they have an exercise room, business center, & outdoor pool. The Holiday Inn & Point Plaza would be about another 5-10 minutes away, and also each have an exercise room & business center, but in addition also offer the option of suites & each have a full service restaurant & indoor pool. The Point Plaza also has a nice newly remodeled lounge & also sells the discounted attraction tickets, including to Busch Gardens.
