The condo inventory on the Armed Forces Vacation Club site comes from the inventory of RCI (Resort Condominiums International). They are surplus timeshare inventory--and most are very, very nice. You will be very pleased with the accomodations.

To get more information on the specific resorts offered--Powhatan, Greensprings, etc.--go to the free web site for timeshare users and owners: www.tug2.net

On the home page when it comes up, click on "bbs" at the very top of the page. The people are friendly and will answer questions very willingly. Because these people travel extensively using timeshares, they can answer your questions about specific ones. Write down the names of the resorts that are offered from the Armed Forces Vacation Club site and then you can ask the TUG members about specific ones--just scroll down the bulletin board until you find eastern.

I can't think of any that are within walking distance of Colonial Williamsburg, but with bus and shuttle services, it's possible to do without a car, just not very convenient. Powhatan Plantation is within a mile or so of restaurants & grocery stores. There is a restaurant on the site, but I think it's a little expensive.

There are 5 Williamsburg resorts that could show up on the Armed Forces Vacation Club site. They are Fairfield Williamsburg at Kingsgate, Fairfield Williamsburg at Patriots Place, Kings Creek Plantation, Sunterra Resorts Greensprings Plantation, and Sunterra Resorts Powhatan Plantation. Information about each resort is available at www.rci.com under "Resort Directory."

None of them are within walking distance of Colonial Williamsburg or Busch Gardens.
