July 3rd/4th - Tropical Storm passing thru

There appears to be a tropical system that is currently off the coast of Florida that is expected to pass up the coast Thursday and Friday. Some forecasts are saying that it will be gone midday Friday. The July 4th weekend and Monday look good though.

We will be arriving Thursday and leaving next Tuesday. Of course we don't want any rain, but it looks like we need to deal with it at the beginning, as many others.

Any suggestions for what to do Thursday and Friday? Won't be able to use outdoor pool at hotel. We will delay BG to the weekend, but not sure about CW/JS. If the rain leaves Friday morning, would JS grounds be too soggy?

Read through this recent thread for some ideas: tripadvisor.com/ShowTopic-g58313-i102-k75582…

By JS, do you mean Jamestown Settlement? They have pathways, but how soggy it will be depends on how much rain they had. Generally, though, the grounds will be fine, and they have some excellent indoor displays, too.

A rainy day is good to go to BG, you can see all the indoor shows, things are not crowded, and if it stops raining you can hop on whatever rides you want.

You could drive to Yorktown or Jamestown, see the indoor things there. it is not too far to walk between the buildings in Williamsburg, so with an umbrella you should be fine.

Forecast is still very uncertain, it might go out to sea or only affect the coast.

Things don't usually grind to a halt here when rain moves through. And the forecast models indicate the storm having a 50 - 50 chance of being far offshore to have any significant impact.

Colonial Williamsburg and Jamestown Settlement will be fully operational unless the storm reaches great intensity. So plan to come, carry an umbrella, and have a good time!

Yes hopefully it goes off to sea and misses the area or grazes during Thursday night.

I was just thinking ahead - no need to go the main attractions Friday since the sat/sun/mon outlook is good.

It seems to be that July 4 Fireworks should be a go, and its just a question of what to do on the 4th .
