Olympic NP beaches.

We are spending 4 nights in Ocean Shores. thinking about driving up to La Push, but wonder if it is worth it.

Looking at ONP map looks like 1st, 2nd and 3rd beach all have a bit of hiking to get to them. we will be on a huge beach in ocean shores. so not sure we want to hike much. Understand there are tide pools at some beaches.

phirl It is a bit of a drive! Your best beach to make it easier would be Rialto. You can drive pretty much right to the beach! Ruby is a lot closer, but you do have to climb over a coule of big drift logs. At Rialto just walk North up to the sea stacks where the better tide pools start. You will have to cross a very small creek that empties into the Ocean. Not a big deal though. Stop and have a burger and shake at Three Rivers Resort, which you will pass when you turn to go to Mora and Rialto. Have you been to Quinault? There are several easy and nice nature trails! Also if you do not mind driving on gravel the loop of the North and South Shore road is quite pretty IMO. Ocean Crest in Moclips has some of the best chowder around and a nice place to eat with a view. I have not eaten there in a long time though. I prefer the beaches further north. Have fun!

Thanks Glacier, Checked the ONP map to see where Rialto is. Probably unlikely we can make the long drive and catch a low tide too.

Your idea to drive around Lake Quinault may be better since it is a lot closer. And though we have been in area, we only saw part of it.

Chowder at Moclips sounds good
