The only outlet center in Mt Vernon is slowing going under due to the awesome one that just opened in Marysville. Not sure what to tell you, how long a trip are you planning?

If you want outlet malls go to MArysville. If you want malls keep heading south to Seattle or Bellevue.

Ok, if you are just heading down for the day, (from Vancouver I assume) I would recommend heading straight down I-5 to Seattle Premium Outlets , 10600 Quil Ceda Blvd. Tulalip, WA 98271 (360) 654-3000. There is more than enough to keep you happy for the day. Check their website. If you want to stay in that general area, and well north of Seattle, the small towns of LaConner and Bellingham have nice main streets with unique and interesting local shops. Bellis Fair is the main mall in Bellingham (Macy's, Sears, Target, etc), Cascade Mall is in Burlington (Macy's) both serve the local communities, but nothing special.

If you have more time, and are spending the night, make your first stop the Premium Outlets, then continue south to Bellevue Square (one of the most successful malls in the country) with Nordstrom, Macy's, Crate & Barrel, Gap, Sephora, Container Store ETC along with restaurants, movie theaters and more. The just opened Lincoln Square has added several new restaurants. Hotels (Westin, Hyatt, Marriott) are within a block and expensive, but they put you in the heart of "mall central".

Then when in Bellevue (and if you still have $) continue on to Factoria Mall area for the off-price Nordstrom Rack and Loehmann's (also an Old Navy and Target in the mall).

With that agenda it will be tough to meet your duty free limits - but the Canadian $ is so strong. Enjoy!
