All on the same day? Close to impossible.

Orcas to Vancouver - ferry to Anacortes, drive east on SR 20 to I-5, north to the border, north to Vancouver on BC 99. Allow 5 hours counting border.

Vancouver to Tofino - north through the city to Horseshoe Bay, ferry to Nanaimo, drive 3 hours to Tofino. Call it another 7 hours all in, counting ferry wait.

So somewhere around 12-14 hours would be my guess. Longer counting ferry queues.

Or did you mean, possibly, Victoria on Vancouver Island instead of Vancouver (city) on the mainland?

Janice: Please take a look at a paper map so you can see the big picture and get a realistic grip on where you want to go. Thanks. Chuck.

Thank you for the info.Overnight in Victoria is a possibility instead of Vancouver. Do you have an opinion?

Do I have an opinion on how you should go? No, that would be your choice and decision. I just want to help you have information you may not have thought of so you can make your own informed decision. Chuck.

You would have to leave Orcas to Friday Harbor on the first ferry of the day, or preferably the night before, then connect to the Friday Harbor - Sidney BC boat. Tofino is about a 5-hour drive from Sidney. The WA ferry system doesn't show Orcas-Sidney as being a valid route on June 9, so maybe you're not allowed to transfer to the Canada boat at Friday Harbor, despite the schedules appearing to allow it.

Yes, it is allowed and anyone who has a valid passport or US government ID can get on the ferry that stops here in Friday Harbor that goes on to Sidney BC. You would have to come over from Orcas first to FH then take the Sidney ferry. The WA state ferry to Sidney on Vancouver island BC leaves right from the town of Friday Harbor so its convenient to stay on San Juan island one night if you want to catch the morning ferry to Sidney as they require you to be there a minimum of an hour in advance for customs and immigration purposes. Vehicle reservations are recommended on the BC run and may be made online or by phone and fare info is at http://www.wsdot.wa.gov/ferries/fares/. Call from out of state to WSDOT Seattle: 206-464-6400 or toll free in state: 888-808-7977 or online at https:/…default.aspx Do make advance reservations for that as it is possible it would fill in the summer. The WSDOT bulletin page at wsdot.wa.gov/ferries/schedule/bulletin.aspx carries special notices of cancellations and changes to the posted sailings. Fare rates are at …wa.gov/ferries/pdf/fareseffectivemay2014.pdf Further important information from the WSDOT website posted for that run states "Ana/Sidney - Identification is Required U.S. and Canadian citizens 16 years of age and older traveling to or from Sidney BC must have one of the following designated documents: passport, passport card, enhanced driver's license (EDL), or "trusted traveler" document such as a Nexus Card. Travelers must have required travel documents ready and in hand upon arrival at the tollbooth." as now they won't sell you a ticket to Sidney Canada in Friday Harbor without you showing them a passport etc for each passenger
