One afternoon in Green Bay

Hi. We're coming up from Madison to do the Marathon and will have Saturday May 18th afternoon to do something low key (i.e. not much walking!) in Green Bay. The packet pickup is at Lambeau, so I'm guessing the tours there may be too busy.

Any suggestions for things to do or see?

depending on your interests zing over to Bay Beach Amusement Park (open weekends in May usually) and take a ride on the Zippin Pippin rollercoaster ($1) all other rides 50 cents, and cheap concessions. The appeal is its a small scale amusement park on the water that will remind you of days of old. http://greenbaywi.gov/baybeach/

The National Railroad Museum is another great choice. They have a fine collection. Take a train ride and explore the museum. You can just see some or explore all on foot whatever you're up for. www.nationalrrmuseum.org/en-us/default.aspx

The Green Bay Botanical Gardens are nice (though we're getting a late start to Spring aren't we) http://www.gbbg.org/

or Bay Beach Wildlife Sanctuary you could peruse (FREE) and across the street from the Amusement Park:

There are also museums and Heritage Hill to explore.

Thanks- hopefully the weather will be nice enough for outside stuff like the amusement park, but if not the railroad museum looks interesting.

Probably will hit the chocolate shop on the way home after the race! I love Gail Ambrosius here, and am always looking for new chocolates to try.

I've done the Cellcom before. The atrium at Lambeau has a lot of booths setup to view products. The pasta dinner starts at 4 and it can be pretty fun talking to fellow racers. Be prepared, even if it's very nice outside, the wind whips through the area where the pasta dinner is. You might need a light jacket. You can also walk around the area around Lambeau on Armed Forces Drive. The have somenice monuments to see.

If you arrive early there is the NEW Zoo in the Suamico area. It's a nice leisure walk looking at the animals.

Enjoy your visit and happy running!
