Is the Potawatomi casino as bad as the reviews that i have read say that is? Is it safe?

I don't understand your question.

If you are worried about security of course the casino has security. You are probably safer in the casino than most places in Milwaukee. Not saying the streets of Milwaukee where tourists are likly to go are unsafe, but few places have as much security as the casino.

And when you ask bad, in what way do you mean? If you are just questioning safety I answered that.

If you mean gambling odds, I don't know. Some people win, but of course more lose.

There was a recent big expansion, so there are lots of slots and table games to choose from.

It is still smoky, so that is a bad thing to me, but they have a non smoking slot area upstairs.

I am sorry my question was not clear. All of the reviews that i have read have said that it is not clean and that the peaple that work there are very rude and one even said that the secerity was very poor. My wife is traveling to milwaulkee on buisness and she would like to go to the casino, i was concerned because i could not find any good reveiws, I am not even able to find a picture of the casino on line. Any info you could give is much appreciated.

And I am sorry if I was a little short with my answer.

The casino web site is www.paysbig.com. You can see some pictures on the web site.

I don't recall negative reviews of the casino on this forum and I looked back thru some old posts to verify. So, I am not sure what you read.

There was some recent discussion about walking to the casino and that was discouraged because although it is close to downtown it is in an industrial area and not easy to get to on foot.

There is a huge parking garage that is patrolled and if your wife won't have a car there are free shuttles to and from area hotels.

The casino can get crowded and smoky. As I wrote previously there is a non smoking slot area.

The casino just completed a huge expansion and there are several new restaurants, a flashy bar with neon lights in the casino and even a few shops.

They offer free soft drinks, but you have to purchase alcohol.

Please feel free to ask any more questions, if I haven't covered everything you were wondering about.

I am so not a casino person, but I have been in a few including Potawatomi.

IMO Potawatomi, compaired to other casino's and river boats ranks towards the top. Now I'm not talking Vegas.... It is large, has some great restaurnats, good shows and I feel it is very safe.

It is not walking distance from the downtown hotels, but Potawatomi offers a schuttle 5pm-Midnight, Tuesday-Satruday to 6 downtown hotels. Click on the link below to see the schedule.

It is a large file and takes a while to load

There are many locals who do not like the casino because of the clientele - i.e. - typically the senior set, and the set who can't afford to be gambling in the first place.

As a person who frequents casinos about once a year, and is not a big gambler, I was just down there this summer. The expansion is BEAUTIFUL, and now that the coins don't actually drop from the machines, it's less loud in there. There are a ton of new restaurants in there, Wild Earth, Ru-Yi, etc, that get rave reviews, including the always top of the list Dream Dance.

As a woman, I felt perfectly safe there. The parking ramp is well lit, security is everywhere, and I think the casino is very clean.

Have her take advantage of the shuttles if she is not driving.

As for the smoke, I am also a life-time NON-smoker, and I have a hard time tolerating any smoke. They must have upgraded their smoke eaters, because the last time I was in there, I barely noticed it.

The area the casino is at used to be very industrial. It still is, to a degree, but in a new sense. That area is called The Menomonee Valley, and if you look up their website, The Menomonee Valley Partners, LOTS of exciting things are happening in that area with green sustainable design and building, urban landscaping, bike paths, etc. The casino is right across the street from Marquette University's athletic fields.

Downtown is basically at 1st street. The casino is near 16th, and the stadium/ballpark is at 45th. Canal street is the new route that connects them all.

Sorry, that was a tangent.

Good luck to your wife! Hope she wins big!
