Wilderness or Kalahari will overwhelm kids that age.

Chula might be ok -- I toured their waterparks a few weeks ago and there seems to be kid areas.

I still think Polynesian is great for kids under 5. Not too big. Not as fancy as other places, but friendly and a good start.

Copa Cabana and Polynesian are two great choices for the young child that we've personally been to.

If you are looking for something a bit quieter but still has some fun play areas for smaller children we had good luck at both the Grand Marquis and Atlantis. Both are older hotels, but I seem to remember them being fairly updated when we stayed at them. That was approx. 4-5 yrs ago when our kids were in that age range.

Of course now we usually stay at the Wilderness which we like quite a bit, and they do have areas for small children as well, however, as already mentioned it will not be near as relaxing with smaller children due to the crowds and size of the place.

Although one nice benefit of the larger resorts as they also have a large dry play area for kids that young which can be a nice break from the water.

Hope that helps.

When are you going? If it is during peak time the larger parks will make it harder to keep an eye on your kids.

We have always went to the Wilderness. Our kids were 6 months, 20 months, and 4 the first time we went after the baby was born and we had no problems. It all depends on your kids. We found that we would get bored at the small waterparks and it is a get away for us as well.

Either way have fun!

We plan on going the first week of June. We have friends that went to wilderness in September and had a good time, but I think it will be an entirely different beast in June.

Our kids are 4, 2 and under a year and we have been to the Wilderness with them many times in the last 3 years and have had no problems with them being overwhelmed or keeping an eye on them at the waterparks. I find that they get bored at smaller waterparks, like Copa Cabana. We've been the to Wilderness the second weekend in June and the parks are not overcrowded, they have enough waterparks (indoor/outdoor) that they never seem to be too crowded due to the "guest exclusive" policy they have for their waterparks.

it really depends on what you're looking for. Often we visit Noah's Ark so then resorts like the Polynesian and Copa Cabana are really refreshing with plenty to do for a young child. Our kids always wanted to go back and they were older when we went the second time (6 and 8) but still under 10. At the Polynesian they were 10 and 8 and still want to go back. But again it's what you're looking for. Some just prefer bigger over smaller when it comes to resort waterparks. It all comes down to personal preference and too on whether you're visiting other waterparks when you're there too.
