If we did not have a dog, we would not have selected the Days Inn Wisconsin Dells hotel!
The Days Inn, in Wisconsin Dells, WI claims to be Pet Friendly, however what they do not tell you on their internet site OR when you make your reservation for a Pet Friendly room is that their pet policy does not allow you to leave your pet in your hotel room unattended for ANY length of time. For some reason, they save this critical piece of information to spring on you at check in.
I am not aware of any restaurants, or attractions in the Dells that will allow you to bring your dog. Why would anyone plan a vacation to spend 24 hours a day in a sub-standard hotel room while the rest of the family is out to eat, enjoying the water parks, or seeing the Tommy Bartlett Water show, etc? Your pet is also not allowed in any other areas of the hotel except to walk through.
Days Inn policy is if you leave your dog unattended, they will deactivate your keys, and then threaten to remove your pet and board it at your expense. If your dog barks, you will also lose your pet deposit. We were gone for an hour to eat. When we returned, we were locked out of our room and told we were not getting our deposit back because the dog barked.
We asked the front desk to call the police since they wouldn't return our deposit and they told the police we were being evicted for not paying our bill.
Another guest with a dog was also locked out of their room as we were checking out. A guest checking in with a dog was also at the front desk at this time and they were also unaware of this policy. They thanked us for letting them know even though they lost their full deposit.
The Days Inn policy does not match the definition of a Pet Friendly hotel and they should make it clear when you are making your reservation.
Vacation time is too precious. This was also the darkest, dirtiest hotel we’ve ever stayed in. We do NOT recommend the Days Inn Wisconsin Dells Hotel with, or without your pet.
