Float trip

I know this has been answered a million times, but I can't find the posts. We would like to do a float trip in early September, probably early AM. We are more into the "scenic" type. Which companies would you recommend?

River trips come in two categories: whitewater and scenic float trips. The whitewater trips go through the Snake River gorge south of Jackson. You ride through a deep, beautiful gorge and run rapids of medium intensity. This is suitable for all ages. You get wet (they give you a wetsuit), it's exciting and wild, and everyone has a good time experiencing the thrill and beauty of the river.

Float trips are on the Snake River before it enters the Gorge. It's a lot less exciting, but much calmer, with a good chance to see wildlife and take pictures. The most scenic float trips are through a 10-mile stretch of the Snake River lying inside GTNP, which provides good view of the Tetons as you float by. Other float trips are outside the park, starting near the town of Wilson.

There are a bunch of companies that do an excellent job on both whitewater and float trips, among them:

Barker-Ewing http://www.barkerewing.com/

DaveHansen http://www.davehansenwhitewater.com/

Sands http://www.sandswhitewater.com/

Lewis and Clark http://www.lewisandclarkriverrafting.com/

Check with them for times of day you want to take the trip and compare prices and where they go on the river. If your goal is to see wildlife, dawn and sunset are the best times, especially for elk and mule deer.

Mad River mostly does just whitewater. http://mad-river.com/
