Jackson or Jackson Hole

I see people talk about Jackson and also Jackson Hole.

Is this the same place? or is there a difference? I think its the same, but just wanted to make sure I'm looking at the right place.

Remember, there are no dumb questions (maybe just dumb people) ;)

I think I figure it out...

Jackson is the name of the town and Jackson Hole is the ski resort area?

Jackson Hole is the name of our valley, with the Tetons to the west and the Gros Ventre Mts. to the east. ("Hole" is an old mountain-man term for a high mountain valley.) Jackson is the name of the town at the far south end of the valley.
