Hanalei Bay Resort

I'm in the process of making plans for our 20th anniversary trip for May 2015 and really want to go to Hanalei Bay Resort. We have been to Kauai once before 16 years ago and stayed at the Hyatt Regency in Poipu. During a day trip back then we took a trip to the North Shore and we were mesmerized by the astounding unspoiled beauty of that part of the island. So here is the fly in the ointment...my husband is a smoker (^%$#) and I am not giving up staying at this resort because he may have to walk to get to a designated smoking area. Can anyone tell me where the designated smoking area is at this resort and what building would be best to stay in to accommodate him? It's becoming more and more difficult to plan any trip to Hawaii because of his habit. He is respectful and never throws is nasty butts on the ground and always makes sure no people are near him when he smokes. This resort is on my bucket list and I am not giving my dream up because of his bad habit.. I'm hoping someone can give me some good advice regarding this issue. Thanks all!

The desigated smoking area is in the parking lot. The two buildings to consider are the 2000 and 3000 building. The 3000 has the preferred views. The 2000 building has pool and mountain views. One unit that would be very convenient is 3105-6.

Another very nice unit but a little further away is 3201-2 which can be found on Parrish's rental site. This unit was recently remodeled and is very pretty.

Here's the link to the unit that jebett mentions about that is managed by Parrish. Love the views from this unit!

In looking at unit 3105-6..it looks like 3105 is already rented for the week we want next May but 3106 is available. Does anyone know if there is any privacy between the lanais in these units? It look like they are side by side and didn't know if there was a divider of some kind between the lanais. Thank you.

With studios there is little privacy between the units. A lattice is all that separates them. It is my opinion, its better to rent together. 3106 doesn't have a kitchen. Its just the bedroom.

I also like 2311-2. Its owned by the same person that owns 3201-2.

It is also managed by Parrish.

You seem to know quite a bit about HBR. What do you think of unit 33034? Thank you.
