Farmers Markets

I am wondering if anybody has the inside scoop on the farmers markets around the island. I will be staying in Kapaa and would like to check one out close to there. This will be a repeat trip back to the island, however I always seem to miss the farmers markets. For the ones worth checking out, what days if the week are they held and from what times? Is there a farmers market in the coconut marketplace?

The calendar has the various markets:

Coconut Marketplace:

Waipa Market on Tuesday afternoon is my favorite - http://waipafoundation.org/community_market/

Thursday afternoon in Kilauea is a good one too.

If you look under the general Kauai, there is a link for Farmer's markets under Top Questions - and under that link is another one for the schedule for 2014 -where and when. I have only been to the Hanalei market - it was fabulous! :)

Since you specifically mentioned you wanted to visit one near Kapa'a, the best around there is at Kapa'a Town Park on Wednesday at 3 pm. Map link below:

There is a much smaller one at Coconut MarketPlace on Tuesday and Thursday at 9 am in parking lot along Kuhio Hwy.

Check the links others have mentioned as you likely will find others as you travel the island.

Loved the convenience of having a small farmer's market in the Coconut MarketPlace right around the corner from the Plantation Hale where we stayed. Perfect timing too as we arrived late on a Wed. evening and were buying fresh organic veggies & fruit the next morning.

We went to one this morning at the community college - wonderful! I got my apple bananas and a huge piece of chocolate toffee cake - I may have to pay extra baggage for myself on the flight home lol. The one at Coconut Grove had everything we needed as well - so great to have everything fresh!

To me, the one at Coconut Marketplace is blah! Sometimes I think all they do is go to Costco. Now I haven't been there in over a year so maybe its improved. The one near the baseball fields on the bypass is pretty darn good.
