Lae Nani Condos and the Coastal Path

We are thinking of staying at Lae Nani next spring. Is it possible to walk from Lae Nani along the beach and/or Coastal Path northeast toward Islander at the Beach? If possible, how far can we walk coastal after that? Thanks! Mike PS--Any thoughts about best area of Kauai to stay in May?

Oceanside from Lae Nani to Islander on the Beach is like 100 steps or less.

You exit out Lae Nani ocean-side and next property is Kauai Shores (formerly Kauai Sands) and then Islander on the Beach.

You can keep walking ocean-side and after you pass Islander on the Beach you will reach Kauai Coast Resort,

Keep walking ocean-side and you pass a large field and then reach Marriott Courtyard at Coconut Beach.

You can see this route as an ocean-side gray line on the following Google map:

http://tinyurl.com/mmhxlm2

At Marriott or before head over to Aleha Loop road and then along Kuhio. In a short distance can reach Boss Frog shop where you can rent bikes if you want. Then continue on Kuhio and along Kuhio at Waipouli Beach Resort the Coastal Path (Ke ala Hele Makalae) begins but at that point you will really not be on the coast as need to go along Kuhio and then a couple residential streets before reaching the coast and then continue walking with ocean on your right.

More specific, from Waipouli Beach Resort continue on Kuhio for a few blocks and has pass Kapaa Shores turn right on Wana Rd, left on Niuulani to end then a right and it will take you to the coast and continue towards Kapaa etc.

At the map link above you can move the map and press "+" or "-" to see area described above.

My suggestion is if you stay at Lae Nani and want to walk the coastal path, drive up and park at Kapaa Beach Park and walk from there with ocean on your right.

If you want to bike the path, drive over and rent bikes at Hele on Kauai located behind Ono Family Restaurant in Kapaa:

Sometime in future the coastal path gap will be completed from Waipouli Beach Resort to the section at Papaloa Rd in front of Lae Nani but that is likely year or two away.

Wow. That is clear and very helpful--thank you. I think we will take another look at Pono Kai Resort. The path is a big draw for us.

CTunAZ - your directions were very helpful. We are also looking forward to biking the path in a couple of weeks.

You can walk a long way...the actual path is not paved after you pass the Beach Boy, but it is a lovely walk to the next property (can't remember the name)...from there you are near the center of old Kapaa.
