Custard Apples.

Hi,

I would really appreciate if someone can tell where can we buy custard apples from that are not very expensive?

If you are referring to chirimoya - I’ve had mixed luck getting them from farmers markets and never found them in grocery stores. There are always very few of them at farmers’ markets and you need to be early to make sure you get one. The limited supply is reflected in the price but not terribly expensive but expect to pay at least $5 for a decent sized one. Truth be told, the ones I have been able to find on Kauai were not that good anyway. The last good one I had was about 27 years ago and that was in Australia, prior to that was in India.

Cherimoya or Atemoya. Only place I've ever gotten them was the Hanapepe Farmer's Market on Thursday afternoons from one vendor who had a tree in her yard. This was in September.

Iʻve run into them at farmers markets in Hanalei and Kapaʻa, but are you coming during the season for them?
