Kalapaki beach

Alas, we must leave.

Will kalapaki beach be effected by large swells predicted for today?

I understand Dukes is highly suggested for a last meal stop- do you need reservations?

What are prices like at the Lihui airport- reasonable or should we do last minute shopping elsewhere?

Thank you for a wonderful experience.

There’s very little to buy at the airport. You didn’t see any shops when you arrived, right?

Thank you. Visiting the airport site, indicates otherwise. Departures may be different?

The surf warning is for north and west facing shores so Kalapaki Beach shouldn't be a problem. It's Saturday night, I would make reservations at Dukes. Do your shopping somewhere other than the airport.

There is a small shop just to the right as you clear security. It really does not have much but you could pick up a few items.

Duke's does get crowded so make reservations and go early! When they get busy, the service tends to be slow.

Even if you do decide to buy something at the one small shop at the airport, the prices are rediculous. If you go to Dukes, leave a bit earlier and they have a few touristy shops next door. It appeals to the cruise ship folks. You can eat downstairs at Duke's without a reservation. Kalapaki is hardly ever a problem with swells because its a small bay.

I agree with jebett...there are some nice shops near Duke’s and also an ABC store, where you can get lots of souvenirs. Nothing high end artsy at ABC but things like tees, jewelry, Hawaiian spices and salts, many other things. You can wander around the shops after you eat. Skip the airport shops...not much there and very expensive.

There's only 2 small shops. A small gift shop and then a newspaper/ magazine type place next to it. Then there's Starbuck's and the cafeteria type place. That's it.

Airport shops are ALWAYS more expensive than those off-site. Not only is the "rent" higher for the businesses ... but they have this real, actual "gotcha" scenario - so their prices are higher.
