Are you asking for suggestions on where to stay? Or are you all set with that.

Also, could you give us an idea of what a medium budget is? Is that lodging for $50 a night? $100? $150?? For some folks, medium would mean $250 or more. How many days do you have total for this honeymoon? Thanks! :)

Chances of finding "bargains" will be greater away for Poipu. January can be popular on the South Shore. Koloa Landing in Poipu has been advertising some pretty awesome rates, though so check that place out. Brand spanking new.

It sounds like a hotel is what you are seeking if you want to feel like you are on a honeymoon. That would be The Sheraton, Hyatt (not budget friendly), Marriott, and then the part hotel, part condos like Islander on the Beach, Kauai Coast Beach Resort and Aqua Kauai Beach (not my favorite).

Check out Pleasant Holidays website (I am on their facebook page and have seen some good Maui or Kauai deals) or check out Costco Travel. Maui will kind of be the same thing. The sunnier side of the island will see higher prices.

We found that for peaceful, well appointed, clean, and homey like lodging in poipu.....that Poipu Kai fit nicely into our budgets.

Over 12 years , our one B/R garden views started at $ 105.00 /night, and on our last stay in march 2006 at poipu kai the cost was $ 155.00/night.

Now that was six years ago, roughly, and we have not stayed there since then since we moved over in may of 2006.

Search " suite paradise ' on he web, and take a look , and just see if it meets your requirements. Most sections you can walk to poipu beach in short order. Or if in poipu sands, easy walk to shipwreck beach at the Hyatt.

Have posted this many times, but here are some of the things that we appreciated from suite paradise over 12 years of visits.

You have just flown across the USA mainland, and the over a good part of he pacific ocean. You have earned your merit badges for maintaining your aloha thru security, airport terminals, rental car agents, and really are looking forward to getting on island time.

The suite paradise offices are on Poipu Kai property, and when we checked in at the totally no line, no crowd desk, they brewed up maitais for us while we checked in. Sometimes we had to ask, but it was happily presented and those maitais tasted mighty good..

You now have your visitors packet, along with a resort map, and drive over to your sections unit. NO VALETS, NO PARKING CHARGES. You actually park directly in front of your unit....no long walks.

Now , you enter, and we unpack our two duffels in very short order and I head for the refer....yep, year after year, the light goes on, and there, sitting all by itself are two chilled glasses and a complementary bottle of wine, and an E Komo Mai ( welcome ) note.

Some times we just unload the bodies, and sit down all snuggly and sip a goblet of wine. Or other times we leave the condo and walk down to poipu beach.

Here we just hug a bit and look out over the ocean, drawing in large breaths of pure non smog filled LA basin air. The feeling of kauai island is now setting in...for real, we are here !

After enjoyint the ocean view, we walk back across the road from poipu beach park and up to brenneckes for a light dinner and some welcome drinks, and toasts.

Also what we liked about poipu kai. And suite paradise.

1. Nicely appointed units, always clean and well supplied with home furnishings and kitchen and everything you need except food.

2. Garden views, nice lanai, peaceful back yard, and bbq's ( gas) for fixing dinners at home. Sometimes we ate out, some times we made our own.

LARGE ROOMS......just felt perfect for us.

3. Key to your unit, but also a key to your section's semi private swimming pool. And a key the the master pool next to the tennis courts.

4. Manicured green areas, and also friendly people, but not at all crowded like some resorts. Totally pleasant. Sometimes we might meet 2 to 4 couples....while walking the grounds. 80 some acres of room.

5. Great location for walking to the beaches as described above and nice also for touring the poipu, koloa area.

I could keep on going, but we really enjoyed poipu kai, every unit, and we stayed in three different sections. Always perfect, narry a problem.

Anyway, if you have the opportunity , search suite paradise , and take a look.

They will have rates, areas, etc.

We just requested EXTRA DELUXE...garden view 1 bed room, and when we arrived they would present the keys to our room. Yep, it was a surprise, which we liked.......but it would be in one of the two upraded sections, manualoha, or poipu sands. That little trick saved us lots of money over reserving and requested a particular section.

Oh, washers and dryers in each individual unit, no AC, but there are ceiling fans and jaloused shutter windows, and trades to keep it comfortable.

Sorry, no butlers , or valets.....but for us, it was great, we can wash our own dishes and take out the trash. Oh, and are skilled in parking our own car. And, fix our own meals. Kept everything within our travel kitty budget.

Congrtulations on your honeymoon vacation to Kauai.

Denny and Erica
