Lawai Beach Resort and No A/C

We have the opportunity to rent a two bedroom unit at the Lawai Beach Resort (11/29-12/6/2014) and are trying to decide if this is the right option for us. We have read good things about the resort but are concerned about the resort not having air conditioning, especially in trying to sleep at night. We would like to know if we should be concerned about no A/C at this time of year, or is the resort situtated so we will have good breezes (without a lot of outside noise). Thanks for your help.

I've never been to Hawaii when the humidity has been like it gets in the Midwest. Usually there's a nice breeze that keeps it pretty comfortable. We have been there a couple times that time of the year when the Kona winds were blowing instead of the trade winds and we were glad to have a/c because of the stuffiness and higher humidity, but if the trade winds are blowing like they're suppose to be that time of year, you may need that blanket.

In december, it is likely that you will have cooling trades and lower temps that we are experiencing here in October.

I used to work at the Lawai Beach Resort as a concierge and do not remember folks saying much about being uncomfortable.

As visitors we stayed in poipu at Poipu Kai, and did not have A/C....12 years....we opened the jaoluse windows at night and turned on the ceiling fans...during the day when home, we opened the slider as well.

Cannot guarantee anything in Dec., but with the good tips on preferred buildings oriented to the trade winds, use of ceiling fans, and your visiting in dec., good chance you will be just fine. You look pretty comfortable in your uniform of the day in board shorts......come on over and have a grand ol time.

Aloha,

What's a blanket?

Seriously, report back how it worked out for you.

We stayed at LBR just last week. We were fine without AC and it was warm some of those days. DO NOT let them put you in the Coral building. Ali'i or Banyan only.

Just returned from one week stay in 2 bedroom unit on 2nd floor in banyan bldg. We haven't stayed in the coral bldg since 1999 on an rci bonus week. That stay prompted us to buy a week a few years later in the Ali'i bldg. Btw, we needed a blanket at night. Going back for two weeks in september.
