What is your idea of " a reasonable amount of money"

Could you share your nightly accommodation budget.?

Koloa Landing may well fit the bill. You could reserve a 2BR/2BA villa that would provide a luxury accommodation for our family. They are new, modern units with numerous amenities. There are nearby restaurants , if you choose not to cook, but still have a convenient kitchen for snacks and beverages.

There is an onsite Spa, exercise room, BBQs, and 2pools.

Knowing your nightly budget would assist in specific recommendations.

Koa Kea is a small boutique Hotel in Poipu with a terrific on-site restaurant, and central location. It is favored by Honeymooners.

What dates and rates are you looking at for Koa Kea?? Just an FYI the $369 base rate inlcudes breakfast for two (50USD value) per day and a ~$75 daily resort credit... so you have a couple meals a day covered for two. The real room rate is closer to $300/night.

Well all I can tell you is my God-Daughter and her new husband spent an amazing honeymoon at Koa Kea! They were married on Oahu and slipped away for a week on Kauai. Reports are it was perfect.

Well, your budget definitely seems to allow for Koloa Landing...check it out...

KL will afford you quadruple the sq footage of Koa Kea, and much the same luxury amenities, if not more.

Safe Travels.

Aloha from Kaua'i!

The Ko'a Kea is a lovely small boutique hotel by the ocean - there is a pathway by the ocean that with only a few feet away you will be at one of the best beaches on the island. There is a small (comparatively) quiet swimming pool in the middle of the U shaped complex.

Wyndham Koloa Landing are new, large condo buildings that are well back from the ocean (Ho'onani Rd is in front along with Po'ipu Kapili condos although the condos at Koloa Landing are high for the Po'ipu area, you would have an ocean view from some units ).

You can walk down Kapili Rd to Ho'onani Rd and then past the Sheraton Kaua'i to the lovely beach area.

I am sure Koloa Landing are upscale and beautiful inside - but if you want to be close to a beach and the ocean, I would vote for the Ko'a Kea personally.

"We are looking for a the most luxury resort we can find for a reasonable amount of money. We can't afford the top tier, but hopefully still something relaxing and nice. The pool area is important to us, as is beach access. "

Sounds like you're saying you want the best for what you can afford and not necessarily top luxury. This sounds like the Sheraton to me and on $375 a night budget you can afford the oceanfront rooms whereas at the Koa Kea you'd be in a non-view room probably , if you can even get that price there at all. Great swimming beach too . Sits on the same beach as Koa Kea but a better section of it. Pool isn't huge but very nice and nice relaxing areas around the pool with chaises right on the lawn leading up to the sand. It's a more moderate resort hotel and good bang for the buck. You won't get the turn down service with the little choclates on your pillow like at the Koa Kea but that probably doesn't matter much to you. Nice amenities and lots in walking distance.

Take a look at the photos...

Note: The so-so reviews at the Sheraton tend largely to be from those who stayed in the cheaper and older garden wing buildings across the street from the main buildings on the water. Just the typical case of people not researching where they'd be placed in the resort for the low budget they had. With a budget like yours you could stay in one of the two oceanfront buildings. The pool wing overlooks the pool and beach and the ocean wing overlooks the ocean with the grass lawns leading up to it.
