walk from kiahuna P.

Help!! How far is the walk from Kiahuna Plan. to the shopping center across the street? Is there a stop light at the crossing? Also, can you walk down the beach to the Sheraton and Westin? We're not hugh walkers, but like to walk to dinner! We'll be there in August!! Julie and Frank

The Kiahuna Plantation is right across the street from the shopping center, but Kiahuna is a very large property, so depending on where your unit is located, it could be 2 minutes away or 10 minutes away. I don't think there is a stop light at the crossing, but there is a crosswalk. You can easily walk to the Sheraton beach which is right next door. There is no Westin in Poipu....maybe you mean the Marriott?

There are lots of options for walking from this complex. Don't worry. No hiking boots required.

The Sheraton in right next door to the KP, you'll be sharing the same beach with them. As far as I know, there isn't a Westin in Poipu. I think there is one up North. Maybe you meant the Hyatt? It's a long walk from KP to the Hyatt. I take long (1-2 hour) walks every day that I'm in Kauai, but if you aren't up for a long walk, you'd need to drive to the Hyatt. One shopping center in right behind the KP, one road to cross. Very easy walk. Not sure about a light, but definitely crosswalks. There's a second shopping center kitty corner from the KP, a little further, but also an easy walk. Lots of restaurants walkable from KP. Lucky you getting to go to the most beautiful place in the world. Have a great time!

No, there is no stoplight at the crossing. There are also lots of good restaurants and shopping here. kukuiula.com/community/the-shops-at-kukuiula/ Take Hoonani Rd. after the Sheraton--about a 15-20 min walk. Don't forget to try Plantation Garden on the Kiahuna property.

Hop over to google maps for a good perspective. It is just like you are there....

No traffic lights in Poipu or Koloa town. Close ones you will encounter ....one up in Kalaheo and a handful in Lihue.

Poipu Shopping center is virtually across the street from Kiahuna,...so quite handy.

Kiahuna and the Sheraton are neighbours and share the same beach. Not certain to what "Westin " you are referring. If by chance, you mean the Hyatt....no you can not reach it along the beach. Most folks would jump in the car to check it out in the evening.

Yes, 5-10 minutes to the shopping center across the street where Keoki's, Puka Dog, Roy's is. No stop light but there's definitely a cross walk. Just be careful at night, it's a bit dark.

As for walking on the beach, it's all sand from the Sheraton to KP. Same beach. Facing the water, Sheraton will be on your left, Koa Kea on your right.

Going west from KP along the beach, when you reach the Koa Kea you'll need to go up a step to the pathway as it gets rocky on the water, and you can take the path to the Marriott Waiohai Beach Club (did you mean the Marriott Waiohai instead of the Westin?). Then back on the sand again. You can walk from KP to Poipu Beach park this way. It's a nice walk.

As thoughtful as the above poster's precise directions are....they are inaccurate.

Providing clarification.......

Facing the water in front of KP...Sheraton is to the right( westerly direction.)

KOA Kea is to the left (when facing the water in front of KP)

Heading toward KK and in the direction of Marriott Waiohai would see you heading East...not west.

Don't worry about crossing Poipu Road to get to the shopping center. No light but a well-observed crosswalk and the speed limit at that point is only 35 mph. It's a popular crossing (really the only crosswalk across Poipu Road) so you'll be in good company and drivers are generally well aware and are cautious.
