Fitness Center Available?

We are staying at Alii Kai and read somewhere that St. Regis has fitness center others can use? We like to get some exercise if needed beyond all the snorkeling we hope to do! Mahalo!

Your information is wrong. Unless you stay at the hotel, you can't use the fitness equipment.

There is a cross fit place in Princeville. In Kapaa is a gym that has visitor passes. Along the golf path near Alii Kai you can jog/walk/bike.

Thank you so much.

Where exactly is this golf path, how long is it, and what is it like, I. e. Coastal views, flat, or?

Detailed description would be most helpful as I can find very little info about it.

Mahalo.

The east side path (Kapa`a) may be prettier for a walk. It hugs the coastline.

Google a map of Princeville. It goes from the beginning of Princeville (at the shopping center) and winds down to before you get to The St Regis Hotel. Its not long at all (less than 2 miles up and back) and though you can see the ocean from parts of it, like I said it goes along the Makai Golf Course. You can also ride along the streets in Princeville because this area is flat) Pzp is correct that the bike path in Kapaa is MUCH prettier and a true bike path. The path in Princeville is mainly used for joggers/walkers but you do see some people on bikes. If you are a mountain biker the Princeville path will be a disappointment. If you want a leisure biking eperience, the path is fine.

What type of a work out is the OP looking for ??.

Cardio warm up, resisitance training, TRX classes, free weights, exercise machines, cardio machines like elipitical , or treadmills, or statiionary bikes ?

As visitors on kauai there are plenty of ways to get in exercise just enjoying the island with many hiking trails, kayaking rivers, biking, snorkeling and swimming, so a nomal day visitors can get in plenty of exercise just having fun outdoors.

As to mainland style gyms.......the Kauai Athletic Club has two brand new excellently equipped modern fitness centers one on the East Side closer to Kapa'a, and the other in Lihue, near the harbor at the base of nawiliwili. The north shore is a little limited in that most resorts require you to be a guest, or charge some ridicualously high fee.

When we stayed in Poipu, we would drive up to Port Allen on the west side to work out in the morning, or take an early morning hike from Poipu Kai, past the Hyatt and Shipwrecks and along the coast trail over toward Maha'ulepu.. A great way to start the day, and then come back to the condo and fix breakfast before heading out to explore the different shores, or particiapte in an activity.

When we stayed up in Princeville area, we walked from he HBR to the very nice trail that parallels the golf course and main road. You can see it when you drive in or out of princeville as joggers and walkers will be visitble. As far as sresistance training, we had a couple of exercise bands, and would also use body weight exercises in the condo and finish up with stretching and flexibility.

Even when visiting neighbor islands we follow the same practices, and find all kinds of places to hike which we did nearly every day. That included the Big island as well a Maui. We added in snorkeling, and kayaking as well. The islands are perfect for staying fit while being out enjoying mother natures treasures.

A good guide book was always a great help as well.
