Newest Hana lodging options- week long stay for group/family

We are starting research for our women's retreat in Hana Maui for end of February 2014. We visit Hana as much as possible and generally bring at least one group, or gaggle of friends and family, over to east Maui for a week or more.

Who knows the newest additions to Hana vacation rentals? We have stayed at the cabins in state park, which are closing soon for much-needed repairs and attention; Hana Kai condos, Hana Gardenland and a number of other places, some of which are no longer in operation - did not survive the downturn in tourism and/or the county permitting fiasco.

Anyone stayed at this place recently - Hana Aloha Maui - still in operation?

Located 3 miles past Hana Town in the Maka’alae District; 2.5/2 house on 2 acres of private land w/ 40 acres of unoccupied pasture in front, and 85 acres of tropical rain forest and views of Mt. Haleakala behind the house. Master bath and outdoor bath w/ shower. $325/night for up to 4 guests.

Have you called the phone # on the website to ask if they are still open? Maybe you can ask the owner for some references that you could call with specific questions. You might also ask if they have a permit to operate as a vacation rental.

Thanks, as long time TripAdvisor posters and reviewers, we appreciate

suggestions.

Following up on internet links [which may still be active even when a

property has closed down OR switched to long term rental OR

operates only on a limited or seasonal schedule, etc.], is a bit

easier and often much more productive on TripAdvisor. It works

better in part due to the location-specific threads, like the Hana

forum. Sometimes even a phone # posted on an old web site is

not useful, or attainable if you are traveling to remote areas;

don't have cell coverage or are overseas ... even on the other

side of the planet.

That is why we post in TA to the Hana or Maui forums, asking

for feedback from RECENT guests to Hana, or to a particular

vacation rental property on Maui. We often get very lucky with

timely reviews, tips and great insights.

Thanks again Barb. Mahalo.
