I haven't stayed in this unit, but I have stayed at Kamaole Sands twice before, and we just booked our third stay in January. If I am remembering correctly, building six is one of the nicer ones as far as location goes. You should be able to walk right out of your unit down to the pool.

Almost all of the units have some kind of bugs, and it will definitely have sugar ants (they are tiny and harmless). The first time we stayed at Kamaole Sands, we had silverfish too, which were pretty grody. Plan on keeping your food in the fridge, all of it, even dry cereal, or it will attract the sugar ants. This isn't a problem that is specific to Kamaole Sands, it is just due to the tropical climate. However, some units are definitely worse than others. If you don't leave any food out, and take your garbage out every day, the sugar ants shouldn't be a bother.

Overall, we have been pretty pleased with Kamaole Sands, enough to keep booking there. It has a good central location, you can walk right across the street to a nice family friendly beach and small park (Kamaole Sands III). You can walk to restaurants, and it is only a short drive to pretty much everywhere on the island. It is also one of the most affordable condo complexes on the island, which is important to us.

The grounds are pretty nice, the pools are good. We had one bad experience where an employee yelled at us for having our 2 year old in the family whirlpool because "he obviously wasn't old enough to be potty trained", and they wouldn't listen to us when we told them that he, in fact, was. But, for the most part, we have been pleased with our stays there.

Thanks for the information on Kamaole Sands. It will be our first time staying there and hoping we'll like it. I can't seem to find any reviews on this particular condo unit, so hoping its nice! Thanks again.

We were there back by the pool in a 3rd floor unit a few years back. No bugs were in our unit?? It is a nice place. The pool is just OK, especially when compared to a hotel resort. We ended up packing the car and driving to the beach just so we could transport chairs etc.. as well as 2 little kids. The beaches right across the street are very nice and family friendly, and there are lots of stores and restaurants in town. Have fun.

Although we have never stayed there...we are seriously conisdering it for our next visit because it is priced well and the location is great. When we visited Maui eralier this year we ran into several people on the beach who were staying there...they all had nothing but great things to say about it andn all said they would stay there again. Please post a TR when you return!

We have stayed at Kamaole Sands twice and loved it. We were in building 10 - and have stayed on the first floor and the second floor. Neither had ants or any other bugs that we noticed. We love building 10 as it's the closest to Kamaole Beach III (right across the street). The grounds and pool are beautiful and clean. You can walk to shops and restaurants very easily from there as well. I would definitely recommend Kamaole Sands, but do your homework first so that you get a renovated/updated condo. I spent a lot of time on VRBO.com and booked both times through this site and had no problems. Both owners were great and everything was as it was advertised on the site. Have a great trip!
