Maui, Hawaii

We are four adults ages 65 --69 going to Maui in April for 7 days. We want to see as much as we can, any suggestions? Like places to see , shop and eat.

Where are you staying? Hope you have a car rented, you need one to really enjoy the island. If you go to the main Maui forum page there is a ton of great info to the upper right as well as a "things to do" button at the top of the page.

Are you planning to snorkel? You are staying near some good spots. Do plan on taking a boat trip, snorkel tour or sunset cruise.

Start reading some of the very good trip reports on the main Maui forum to get some more ideas.

Book with Valley Isle tours for the road to Hana. I believe you will love the tour of the whole island. They will pick you up right at the resort about 6:30 am

If you like beer you will be in walkable distance to the Maui Brewing Co. brewpub.

Hubby and I are planning on doing the Valley Isle tour to Hana in june looks like the best option that way hubby doesn't have to drive and he can enjoy the view.

Make sure you drive into Lahaina you are actually staying in the Kahana area even though it has a Lahaina address it's only about a 10-15 min. drive lots of places to eat and shop. If you like thai food we ate at Thai Chef it was good and not expensive. Make sure to try Ono gelato and U'ulani's shave ice.

Are you wanting to do a Luau there are two good ones in Lahaina? Old Lahaina Luau and Feast at Le Le the first is a Hawaiian style luau with a buffet and show and the latter is a sit down and be served with a polynesian review show. We picked the FAL to do in june on recommendation from the regulars on here. They are both not cheap you can look at their websites and read the reviews on here or Yelp.

You need a good travel guidebook or two for Maui.

You need a good map of Maui.

You need to start reading down through the MAUI Forum daily - read the other discussions about activities and restaurants and such. Include the trip reports and itineraries.

You need to read the top questions off to the right of the MAUI Forum page.

Get back to us with more specific questions on the MAUI Forum.

Understand that there are some activities that you will need to plan (reserve) now. Now. These include luau, catamaran sails, tours to Hana, etc.

My best advice is to become very well acquainted with this forum between now and departure day. Read all trip reports because they are real time experiences from fellow travelers. I put trip reports in the search box and read trip reports for weeks, literally smiling and learning the entire time.

Do buy a guidebook and make a list of your top three to five things you'd like to do and restaurants you'd like to try. Maui is such a great vacation and you're going to have a blast! Deb

You will see the Honokowai Okazuya is near you for casual take out food and when you want to BBQ fish you can get fish by the pound at the Fish Market and Bbbq it at your condo. This would be a good walk from your place or there is free parking. The Okazuya is known for their mahi mahi fish with lemon capers and BBq chicken.

Ulalena. It is an evening show in Lahaina. It was fantastic !!! A must see. It is a Hawaii performance. All seats in the theatre are good so preferred SEATO g is good enough. No need for VIP seats. Get there a bit early they serve drinks and popcorn too. .
