Aulani Pool

Are there people checking whether you are a guest at Aulani in the pool area.

We have friends who are DVC members and are staying at Aulani.

We have reservations at the JW Marriott. Will we be able to use the Aulani pool any?

Thanks

No way. Aulani pool is for Aulani guests only. Pool priviledges at Aulani, as with any other hotel/resort, are for paying guests. (Being escorted off the property ... you don't want that.)

Likewise, your Aulani friends will not be able to use your Marriott pool.

I assumed that was correct but my Disney friends said it would be no problem.

Thank you!

If Disney has a special priviledge where DVC members can bring in folks from the "outside" to use the pool ... well, that's news. And it would surprise me greatly! Aulani jelously guards their activities/events/features for their guests only We've had lots of posts about that, and I have been turned down myself (no art tours for outsiders). Sure, you can come on property and eat and shop ... but that's it. Note, however, that the beaches are all public!

I'm interested in hearing more ...

I believe they issue wristbands to all people staying at Aulani, which you must have on to swim in the pools. I was just hoping to get a picture of my son with a couple of characters and I've been told on disboards that you have to have a wristband for that too. My husband isn't crazy about staying there, so we are staying at the Beach Villas next door. Oh, well, I'm still going to try!

Jaysmom, go to the Aulani Character Breakfast.

Your kids can't use Aunty's Beach House, but if Mickey & Minnie are in the lobby for pictures, no one is going to ask for a wrist band.

Kathy, I'd have your friends check with the concierge or DVC desk to see if guest passes are available for "residents" (meaning you).

Kathy - from what we have heard and seen - there aren't alot of Disney characters roaming the property. Aulani isn't amusement parkish at all. Very small by Mainland standards, and not as Disneyesque as you would imagine.

I agree with Scott's comments above - but would add that Aulani guests get first-grabs at the character breakfast slots. Perhaps that is something your friends could help you with.

Aulani gives out wristbands for the pool upon presentation of the room card. They know how many there are in each party and so how many wristbands can be given out per day. They also monitor that everyone using the pool has a wristband.

I was there for 5 days and never saw characters "wandering around". There is a couple of characters at the character breakfast and possibly other special events.

They have set times for Characters to have photo ops. Pool as PPs have said is only for guests, wristbands are checked pretty rigorously by the lifeguards that are every where around the pool and lazy river.

As hqsmumma says, they have set times for photo ops, recognizing that that is an import part of their brand, but I don't recall it being every day. You'd have to check the daily activities board to see if they are doing it while you are there.... maybe someone could do a daily early morning walk and check the schedule :)
