Staying in Laie with 3 generation family

Hi,

I like to know if it is feasible to go to Honolulu area every day. Laie is beautiful and relaxed and reasonable for oceanfront house. I saw that it is 1 hour drive one way. Because we are staying only 4 nights, I am worried that we may be too far from tourist attraction.

Would it be bad idea to stay in Laie.

As long as you have the rental car you will be fine.

It depends on what you like to do.

Many people prefer staying at a North Shore location (like me!), but we do wander down to Honolulu on occasion, and the drive is OK.... but better if you avoid Rush Hour.

And there are a lot of "tourist attractions" on Oahu, outside Honolulu, but again, the "best" location, is more a matter of personal preference.

A Laie location sounds great to me!

How was it after the trip? Would you recommend it? I'm planning on doing similarly later this year...

You might be right - then again, you came on it :-)

I don't hold my breath as the original postee hasn't done any other posts, but you never know.

I won't hold my breath either. - Too old!

Yes, I came on it, but did I offer any help with Laie? No.

So I still recommend you start a new thread if you want the best answers.

Up to you~~~~~~~~

Really you are only going to want to go to Honolulu for one day. The rest of your trip you will want to go to the beach. The best beaches are on the North Shore near Laie. Another day you should devote to the Polynesian Cultural Center which is in Laie.

Thanks Martha!

We plan on staying a day in Honolulu, a day on a boat, a day going up to Haleiwa hopefully to see some of the big waves roll in (this is Around New Year) and some hiking around Laie.

Naturally a lot on the beach, maybe some snorkeling, stand up paddle, surfing and kayaking. Maybe a round of golf or two. We will stay very close to beach, between the beach and the highway.

Happy for any further guidance.
