Bar Harbor in Early June

Am planning a vacation to Bar Harbor with husband and 10 year old daughter for first week of June. I know that is early in the season - will that be "bad" for our trip? Looking mostly for rest, relaxation, sunrises, whale watching, and of course Acadia. Looking at staying at Bar Harbor Inn, ocean view. Suggestions, comments about that time of year? Thanks! Will be a first time visit to Acadia/Maine, etc. We're from the midwest.

I think June is a great time to visit. Most everything is open but the summer crowds haven't gotten here yet. You do have the chance of a lot of rain. You just never can tell. Also, I don't think June is a good month for Whale Watching, but you may get lucky. There's also lots of other nature/scenic cruises that may be a better option than whale watching unless you are dying to see whales.

The Bar Harbor Inn is a great hotel and it's a perfect location.

Between April and June and then Sept to early Nov are the best times to visit anyway. You'll love it!

It could be on the cool side. To see what the weather may be like, try

<http://www.wunderground.com/tripplanner/index.asp>

Enter either our zip (04609) or Bar Harbor, and the range of dates that interests you.

Sunrise in June is a few minutes either side of 0445. A couple of hours right after sunrise are a great time to be in the park.

You will be here basically in our spring (the trees start to leaf out about mid-May). You might be here when the lilacs are in bloom.

I would agree that whale watching is an iffy business and that unless you just <have> to see a whale, there are better ways to spend your time and money.

<www.acadiamagic.com> provides links to Acadia National Park, as well to lodging and dining alternatives and activities.

Also, check out the Overview section at the top of this page; it provides information on hikes, walks, dining, etc.
