There aren't any restaurants that offer all you can eat lobster.

Depending on when you come, try Thurston's Lobster Pound or Trenton Bridge Lobster Pound where you can buy a reasonably priced 2-3lb lobster and get some steamed clams.

After more than fifty years in Maine, have never heard of an all-you-can eat lobster (or other native seafood for that matter). And if they did, they'd have to make it so expensive no one could afford it.

Last think I remember even close to that was in the 1960's when Howard Johnson restaurants used to offer all-you-could eat fried clams....but those were clam strips and not the real thing.

Would agree that Thurston's would make a great choice for a good-sized seafood meal at a reasonable price in a nice setting....

Actually, there is a restaurant in Acton called "Big Daddy's" that has been advertising all you can eat lobsters (with a fine-print limit of 6) for $19.99.

Really !! Can't say I've ever thought of Acton as a lobster hot-spot, but, hey, if the price is right and the food is good...... Thank goodness you're there CB to back up the rest of us when it comes to southern Maine...

There is a place advertised in Orlando for it! Never heard of such a thing in Maine though.

The only place I've ever seen all-you-can-eat lobster in the world was the Chumash Casino in Santa Ynez, CA, behind Santa Barbara, for about half the year. (Alaskan king crab, the other half.)

Is it seasonal at Big Daddy's?

OK, CB48, I'm in. Taking the bait, so to speak, from Boston would I go up to Acton out of Portsmouth or Wells? (Thinking that it's also a good time for fall foliage color.)

Please remember that I said it existed, not necessarily that it's good. Big Daddy's seems to generate controversy, mostly due I believe to its owner. I will ask at work tomorrow to see if any one has actually been (several co-workers live in that area).

Firewind - you could go from either locale. I think heading up 109 from Wells would be most direct.

MainerOnTheGo: I never think of Acton as a hot-spot, period:-) However, it is a beautiful location with ponds, orchards, etc. Not to mention the Acton Fair...

Thanks, CB48. If you mean it's REALLY lobster in the rough, if Big Daddy is OK with the health department and not the Hell's Angels, he's OK with me.
