There are reviews:

tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g60713-d81222-R…

There are peak times of year such as around the holidays, long weekends, summertime, so if you are here for such times and know exactly which day and time you want, then you can book them online: http://www.alcatrazcruises.com/

If you want to be flexible, then try showing up at the ticket office to buy your tickets at least an hour or two in advance of the cruise you want and just know it could be almost sold out.

Definately buy Alcatraz in advance and only at the website already given to you.

Yes , I think you can search for Raddison hotel on this site. Click on the hotel heading and go to page 3 and scroll down till you come to the Raddison. It is in the heart of the tourist area. Very close to everything you may want to visit. Close to all types of transportation also. Read the reviews and make your choice.
