Looking for THE Best hotel in San Francisco

Hi,

I'm looking for the most luxurious hotel in San Francisco.

- no problem of budget

- It must be in the central districts

Who can help me?

Thank you.

Have stayed at the Fairmont and The Mark Hopkins, and they are both really nice. The St. Francis is also quite nice...down near Union Square. The first two are at the top of the hill on Nob Hill. All centrally located. The Ritz Carlton isn't too far away, but it's not the nicest RC around. I would choose either the Fairmont or the Mark Hopkins, ask for a West or Northwestelry view from a relatively high floor, and you won't be sorry.

Mandarin Oriental.

All the extras you expect from a 5 star property but with incredible views as well.

We're definitely out of my price range and personal experience, but everything I've been reading about extols the virtues of the new St. Regis, and it is certainly very well located. I suppose it would also depend upon whether you prefer traditional, classic charm to a newer, high end style.

Another vote for the Mandari Oriental. It starts on the 36th floor of a 48 story buildig, so all rooms have great views.

Here are the websites of the Mandarin Oriental, the Mark Hopkins, the Fairmont, and the St. Regis. Have fun.

The Mandarin Oriental is a spectacular setting and a great hotel. The Ritz Carlton, Fairmont and Mark Hopkins are in the right neighborhood, the top of Nob Hill. The Four Seasons is new and close to the new shopping mall.

On balance I love traditional, old world elegance so I would go with the Fairmont as the top hotel.

No matter where you wind up, I would go to the Mark Hopkins for a drink (Top of the Mark) and possibly the Mandarin Oriental for a drink as well. Both have amazing, slightly different views.
