1. Re: day spa

I have three that I have been to in the last few years and can recommend:

if you want a place for massage, no steam or sauna, there's this really nice spot http://www.therapeiamassage.com/ - they have intense massage therapy sessions that produce results, a very peaceful lounge to relax.

weekdays are better at this one, which is also good for steam and sauna facilities, Bliss Spa in Hotel W: http://www.blissworld.com/category/spa/spa+treatments/locations/bliss+sf.do

weekends are busy but weekdays are not as busy at the Huntington Hotel on Taylor & California - Nob Hill Spa - offers indoor heated pool, jacuzzi and a large menu of treatments (this is the one you get to at Lobby Level: huntingtonhotel.com/nob_hill_spa/nob_hill_sp…

My son raved about his massage at 77 Maiden Lane, it is located in Union Square. Have a nice time in San Francisco! :)

One of my all time favorite spas is Kabuki springs and spa in Japan town.

I miss it

Kabuki is wonderful - it is women only , Wed , Fri. Men only Sat, Monday Thur and coed on Tuesdays. Coed day is clothing required. Single sex days are clothing optional - beautiful serene japanese baths - sauna, warm pool, cold plunge, relaxing areas to sit, steam room. You pay a day use fee which is under $30, and stay as long as you want in the communal areas. You can also have massages, body wraps, facials etc. check the Web site. If you go in the evening or Sunday it can be a long wait to get in.

Nob Hill spa is beautiful - coed, clothing required in common area which is a large pool & hot tub and lounge chairs overlooking a drop dead beautiful panoramic view of SF. The womens locker room has a sauna and steam. Its small and doesn't have room to sit in the changing room. Other services can be arranged.
