cow hollow and columbus motor inns

I would like to book either of these hotels but cannot find a booking site that features them. I have been on the hotel websites but they are charging rack rate. Has anyone booked these hotels, who did you book with and what rates? I am quoted $140 per night for Cow Hollow and $160 for Columbus, any advice welcome

you have to book directly with those properties; those rates are not so bad for summer; what are the dates of your check-in/out?

Are you selecting these properties because you'll have a car? Is there any way you can rid yourself of the vehicle during your stay? You'll find a much wider selection of accomodations available if you don't have to worry about the wheels.

I am sure that these motor inns do not use booking sites.

Since they have free parking, people who need or want to have a car in San Francisco are pretty well limited to the motor inns which provide free parking, and those places do not, probably, need to use booking sites. Just consider the fact that you would be paying around $50 in a downtown hotel for parking.

Cow Hollow has some sister properties besides Columbus Motor Inn, some are less expensive.

Try these. Chelsea Motor Inn, Coventry Motor Inn and Lombard Motor Inn.

You might also try the Castle Inn.

Thanks for your help, yes we have a car, we are staying in SF as the start of our trip down to LA. We are travelling from 12th October. Perhaps we would be better to forget SF as we have been before and go straight from the airport to Monterey. Does anyone have a good recommendation for a hotel in Monterey - we are on a budget of about $100 per night max.

Thanks guys,

Angie

If you are beginning your trip in SF, the best thing is not to arrange for a rental car until you plan to leave town. A car is not necessary in SF and many more hotel options are available when you're not limited to those with free/reasonable parking.

However, if you decide to bypass SF this time and wish to start your stay in Monterey, the folks on the Monterey forum will be happy to help if you post your question there.
