Budget Dining

Hello all,

I planned a last minute trip to san francisco. Second time. i love this city. Well I have 4 days and between last minute airline tickets, hotel, and a birthday gift hot air balloon ride in napa valley our budget is getting more limited. I am writing to find out of any local, dining options with good food and not too pricey. I've seen the recommendations for dining options posted and some of them are pretty steep. I'm looking to spend 50-60 dollars for dinner (2 people), and less for lunch and breakfast. Any recs are appreciated.

Thanks

www.yelp.com is an excellent resource. You can search by neighborhood, price range, type of food, number of stars, etc. Great user interface: map, etc. Good local reviews as well.

For inexpensive but good, I'd go with Mexican, Vietnemese, and Chinese restaurants. You can spend 1/2 your budget at most places.

$50-$60 is actually pretty decent for 2 people at dinner. Do a search on previous threads and plenty will come up in that price range.

SF Chron's bargain bites is for $12 and less per entree. Since you can spend a bit more, it's worth checking out the Top 100 list:

For the best local dining options, head outside of Union Square. There are plenty of good restaurants in the Mission, Marina District, etc.

I would try the restaurants at Belden Place for dinner.

For a cheap good fast food lunch go to In-N-Out burgers.

If you will be in San Francisco on a Wednesday evening, the Bistro at the famous Cliff House is advertising a 3 course prix fixe special of $19.09. They are celebrating 100 years in the 1909 Cliff House. The food at the Cliff House has varied under different chefs, so I can't speak to it presently - but it would be a great opportunity to see this fabulous landmark and also see the Pacific Ocean.
