2 days in San Francisco

My husband and I are stopping in San Francisco for 2 nights after our honeymoon in Maui. We're staying at the W...does anyone have any "must do's" while we're there? We've heard the Alcatraz tour is good. We're also looking for restaurant recommendations...2 dinners and a lunch! We love good food, but don't want fine dining. We are huge fans of Top Chef and thought of trying Absinthe, but are really flying blind as we haven't been to SF before. Any help is appreciated!

Close proximity to the W is Two on Two Hawthorne Lane, between 2nd and 3rd off of Howard Street http://www.two-sf.com/

off of Mission between 3rd and 4th is Yerba Buena Lane which has Tropisueno www.tropisueno.com

on Folsom @ 2nd is Zare by Flytrap http://www.zareflytrap.com/

You can get to Hayes Valley by hopping the #21 Hayes bus on Market st. www.sfmuni.com/21 and on corner of Hayes and Gough is Absinthe http://www.absinthe.com/

you should try to see the Golden Gate Bridge, I recommend doing a bus ride on the #30 which you can hop on at 3rd St. to get to Laguna and Chestnut, switch to the #28 to get the bus to Golden Gate Bridge (www.sfmuni.com/28 www.sfmuni.com/30 )

I like Absinthe (fyi it is closed on Mondays). Best to get reservations, especially if you'll be here after symphony and opera open in mid-September. www.opentable.com is a good resource for making online reservations.

Chez Papa Resto at Mint Plaza (just off 5th St. near Mission) is another good dining option: http://www.chezpapasf.com/resto/home.html

I think one of the best ways to see the city is by renting a bike at Fisherman's Wharf and ride along the bay, across the Golden Gate Bridge to Sausalito. Have lunch there (Poggio or Sushi Ran) and take the ferry back to FW.

Thanks! I love the bike riding idea! Would we have time to do that AND an Alcatraz tour in one day?
