ideas for evening activities...

We love visiting San Francisco and here we come again!

This will be our 4th trip and we're bringing children and grandchildren to share your wonderful city this time. Our group of 6 ranges in age from 14-72! Filling the days is easy but the nights pose more of a challenge and I'm hoping you folks can guide me, once again.

We have tickets for WIcked one night and can go to Alcatraz another night but what else can we do that will be fun for all?

We will have a rental SUV and a GPS for Mon. and Tues to show off Muir Woods, Point Reyes, Petaluma, drive the crookedest street, walk the GG bridge and have a car at the other end :), etc., so if you have any ideas that are a bit out of the way, please don't hesitate.

Grandaddy is happy to be our driver and not have to do so much walking this trip. He's great at circling and patiently waiting, so for us, the vehicle is a good idea and we're fine with parking at the hotel. :)

Thanks so much!

The deYoung musuem is open Friday nights. The Tut exhibit is there now and is very interesting and one I think even young kids would like. There is also live music and interactive art stuff going on in the lobby.

The Academy of Sciences is open Thursday evenings, also with live music.

Both are in Golden Gate Park and at night street parking in the park is no problem but there is a pay garage as well.

we can make better suggestions if you provide the dates you'll be here. for example, the Sing-Along-Sound of Music event at the historic Castro Theatre is a fun event for the entire family: http://www.castrotheatre.com/ NOVEMBER 25 & 27-29

Sal,

I will be in San Francisco for a week in early February and the late museum hours sound great to me. However, I just went to the Academy site and don't see late Thursday hours listed. Will those hours be valid in February, and would the City Pass tickets be accepted?

Thanks

Here is the link to the "Nightlife" of the Cal Academy. For the OP, I apologize, it appears that it's for over 21 only. http://www.calacademy.org/events/nightlife/

If you have an open Sunday slot, you could take the whole family to Beach Blanket Babylon - as San Francisco institution. Minors are only allowed in to Sunday's shows at either 2 or 5pm.
