#1 sf tips

will be in SF for 4 days in june and I need some expert help... I could probably pick up a tourist guide, read through it, and end up going to all the famous places, or I could just post this, and get some other impulses..

1. Where do we go to get cool secondhand clothing?

2. What area is best for general shop to you drop activities?

3. Whats your favourite restaurant?

4. Whats the best bar (area) to vist for nighttime drink to you drop activities? I like bars with cool rockmusic as White Stripes, Sabbath, Stones, but also new "indie stuff"

5. Whats the most exciting art gallery that is a must to visit?

Please help me out (-:

All my content is inappropriate. ;)

1. Crossroads is a popular local chain. Secondhand clothing is a hot commodity in SF because it's the in-thing with hipsters, so expect high prices and limited selection.

2. Union Square.

3. I have my favorites, but I am vegetarian and don't like to spend $$$$. I'll defer to others...

4. I suspect you will want to go to the Mission District. Based on your musical preferences, I have a feeling you do NOT want to go to the Marina District. Both are popular areas, but the crowds are very, very different.

5. I stick to art galleries in Oakland, so I'll defer to others...

1. Cool second hand shops: check out shopping in the Haight, the Castro, Noe Valley, and/or the Mission.

2. General shopping, definitely Union square. Everything is available with blocks and blocks of shopping.

3. Spruce. http://www.sprucesf.com Break your piggy bank, it's expensive.

4. Cafe Du Nord. http://cafedunord.com/ Check their website for events.

5. MOMA. www.sfmoma.org Though if you want a museum in a cool location, perhaps the Palace of the Legion of Honor (I know, it sounds like the Hall of Justice for the Superfriends) http://www.famsf.org/legion

#4 Lucky 13 on Market & Church http://www.examiner.com/x-31440-SF-Bartender-Examiner~y2009m12d11-San-Francisco-Bars-Lucky-13

#5 I like the alternative stuff like this art gallery called Shooting Gallery in the Tenderloin, but not in the really tough area: http://www.shootinggallerysf.com/ (is in the same area of many great Thai, Vietnamese dining; also near the Great American Music Hall)

1. Definitely Mission Thrift. Lots of different items and decent quality, and cheap! Retro-Fit if you're into vintage.

2. Union Square and Westfield Mall on Market.

3. Aziza

4. Probably the Mission District. Lots of bars from 16th and Valencia down to 24th and Valencia, with a few on Mission St. as well.
