We will be going to San Francisco in July for 5 nights. Got the hotel booked (staying at Parc 55) and most of the tickets purchased in advance (Wicked and Alcatraz night tour, w00t!) already. Very excited!
I am a huge Peanuts fan and a wine admirer, therefore I am thinking we will take a day trip to Santa Rosa to visit the Charles Schulz Museum and check out the wineries nearby on a Monday. I have a very hard time finding a car rental place near Union Square that allows a late night drop off, so far.
Through the search function on the forum, I found out about City-rent-a-car, but I am not sure about the distance between Holiday Inn Golden Gateway (night drop-off location), 1500 Van Ness Avenue, and Union Sqaure.
1) Do I have any other options for car rental, or should I go with City-Rent-a-Car even though I have never heard of or used them before?
Also, 2) what are some of the wineries near Santa Rosa that cannot be missed? We have gone on private wine tours before, and prefer boutique wineries that do not charge a high tasting fee over gorgeous wineries with medicore wine. No preference regarding red or white - we enjoy everything as long as they are good!
3) What is your early dinner recommendation in Santa Rosa, or along Hwy101 back to San Francisco so we may avoid rush hours traffic?
