we did Dylan's tour and we enjoyed it. It gave us a good overview to San Francisco and the different types of areas.

The tours get booked up pretty quickly so you need to get in there, they are only available from a certain number of weeks in advance,I can't remember how many but I'm sure one of the TA regulars will post & tell you that, also do remember that the night tour does not run 7 days a week.Wear something warm,it gets pretty chilly out there!

www.alcatrazcruises.com has all the info you will need. As snae says, the night tour does not run 7 days a week. Tickets are sold 90 days in advance. If you're coming over Memorial Day weekend (5/28-30) you would be wise to book as soon as you can.

As far as the tour: when you say your "first day" do you mean the day of our arrival or your first full day? Dylan's Tour gets excellent reviews here but it's 5 hours long. Mr. Toad's has 90 minute and 3 hour tours and is also well reviewed here. If you're looking for something the day of our arrival those might be better ... or a HOHO. The tickets for HOHO tours are generally good for 2 days.
