Is a week in San Francisco in December a good idea?

A week in San Francisco is always a good idea :) !!

While winter is our rainy season, it's generally just beginning in December. Of course it's impossible to predict a particular week this far out so you should be prepared for a little rain.

As you put together a list of things you want to see and do, keep an "inside activity" list and an "outside activity" list. If you're here an entire week it is very unlikely to rain every single day. So if there is a little damp, do the "inside" stuff that day and save the "outdoor" stuff for a dryer day.

There is nothing quite like watching storm clouds pass over San Francisco Bay, so even if it should rain or storm, you'll certainly have some great views to enjoy while you're there.

Some of my favorite memories of SF are winter visits when it rained. Buy a cheap umbrella and enjoy!

I have had many great days in November and December. You will enjoy San Francisco in any event, rain or shine.

Some Decembers are dry & cold, everything concerning weather here is a gamble. Just be sure to have warm clothes and a wind breaker. Since there is little fog in the winter, you can have great days in the Marin Headlands across the GGB from SF.

The differnece between December and July in SF is that you'll need to pack one more sweater and a small umbrella in December. It was about 70f last Christmas eve.
