Here are over 2000 reviews on them. Definitely not cheap but if you can afford it, I saw go for it.

Probably right about the difficulty getting a table. Reservations are often two months out. One work around is being willing to eat early (5:30pm) or later in the evening (~9:00pm).

There are so many great restaurants in SF that are of the same rating so I would not lose sleep over it. Go to opentable.com and look at the lists of top restaurants in different categories and you can read reviews and make reservations.
