Where to watch NFL?

Where to watch NFL?

Myself and a couple of friends will be visiting San Francisco (from Ireland) from the 18th until the 23rd January so I'll probably have a few questions over the next couple of weeks!

Since we'll be there for the AFC and NFC Championship games, I was wondering where the best place/sportsbar would be to watch? Would a ticket need to be purchased ahead of time for this kind of thing?

There are sports bars everywhere that will be showing the games. Which one you go to depends on where you're staying. If you want to see what an Irish bar in SF is like, you can try the Chieftan.

You won't need a ticket, but if the 49ers are in the NFC Championship, the bars will be packed. Get there early.

It reall depends on where you're staying, near Union Sq you've got the Chieftain like Simba said, also 4th St Bar/Grill , at the Marriott. Near GG Park, the Kezar Pub. Near AT&T park- O'reilly's, Zekes Sports Bar.

If you like some local brew then 21st Amendment would be a good place as is Thirsty Bear. In case our Niners are not doing well (which has not been the case so far this year ) at least the beer is good.

I've never noticed TVs in Thirsty Bear.

Thanks for all the responses, we're staying on Fisherman's Wharf but we're willing to travel to get the best game watching experience.

The Pub at Ghirardelli is a convenient option and is great if you're hungry. http://thepubsf.com/

Knuckles is good if you want to just watch the games there are many tv screens. If you want a fun crowd the Bus Stop on Union or Shanghai Kellys on Polk are fun. The Bus Stop is located within crawling distance of other well attended bars. It's walkable more or less from the Wharf. Kelleys is more like a cab ride but you could crawl "home" through North Beach
