cable car: few questions ...

1. if you get off to take a photo, do you have to buy a new ticket, if you want to go further with the cable car? (or can you buy a ticket from a certain stop to another?)

2. till what time do they ride (approximately) on a sunday?

At $6 each, single rides on cable cars are very bad value, and there are "no transfers" allowed. On our ride, they did stop at Lombard St to allow people to take a photo.

The simple solution is to get a Muni one day (or 3 day) passport. One day I think was $14. And it means you can use all the other Muni transport as well, not just the cable cars.

Timetables and fare information is quite easily available on line, but they at least run till 11.00 pm.

Cable cars run until past midnight.

About the only place they stop long enough for a photo op is the top of Lombard Street. While historical landmarks, they are also transit vehicles. I wouldn't expect you would have enough time to get off for pictures and get back on before it had moved on.

Further they frequently stop in the middle of the intersection (this is especially true on hills) so they don't want to delay the cross traffic.
