Ferry Building as Acme bread. If you are close to Golden Gate Park, check out Arizmendi for plenty of baked goods including bread. Also in the Mission but parking is hard there.

"Old time" sourdough is actually hard to find. Acme has good sourdough, but it's not the "old school" version. Boudin probably comes closest. Scoma's and Sam's and Tadich have my favorite restaurant sourdough (Scoma's is a "private bake" -- not available commercially).

As mentioned Boudins is good.

Its touristy but its always fun to watch the bakers at the boudin bakery at Fisherman Wharf.....there is a demonstration window there where you can watch the bakers at work
