I need a link or info for SF murals on buildings

I've read about a company near Mission that has tours, but it also says that's not the best part of town. Is there a link with a map that will tell me where to lokk for some of the fabulous murals in SF on the buildings?

Thanks,

Kent

www.precitaeyes.org/classic-mural-tour.html does the tours which I think are great

or else

http://goo.gl/maps/LL1Ei has a map that was created by someone online

It is fine to walk around during the day and into the early evening The Mission is a food paradise so please enjoy the area, its murals, its culture and its ecletic mix of food from Tacos to Sausages to Ice Cream to Tandoori to Beer and Bowling

Balmy Alley and Clarion Alley in the Mission. I agree that both are fine to visit during the day.

Other than Precita Eyes, there's a free walking tour by this group too: http://www.sfcityguides.org/desc.html?tour=51

There is a most amazing mural on the backside of Safeway at 2020 Market (@Church). You'll see it if you take the J-Church or N-Judah lines as they go from topside streetcars into the subway (or back the other way).

You can see the edge of it here: http://goo.gl/maps/FvGqu

There's also a huge pride mural at 16th & Market. Looks like it was just being painted when this Google streetview photo was taken: http://goo.gl/maps/nP4tp

Also love some of the great murals in North Beach: http://goo.gl/maps/GzHCW

Keep your eyes peeled, there is great public art all over the city.

You can feel safe in the Mission. Murals can be found along 24th going east from Mission (starting at the parking lot in the middle of the first block) to Potrero, with the most famous alley mentioned. Look around St. Peter's Church and at the restaurant facades. There are also lots of new places full of hipsters along with the restaurants, bakeries and groceries from many varied parts of Latin America. The new Wise Sons Jewish deli and the historic St Francis Fountain are just a few blocks apart.

Another great mural is on the Women's Building on 18th St. Enjoy.

From the OP.

I'm going to make photos. If I'm walking in the Mission during the dayshould I take a small camera or will it be OK to take a larger DSLR camera with a bag that has other lenses that I may need in it?

Thanks.

In terms of safety and bringing your SLR, I think you would be perfectly fine during the day. If you are very worried, take one of the tours listed above.

Also some nice murals along Haight Street, both upper and lower.
