Simple but healthy food?

Is there a wholefoods or similar in the Union Square area or walking distance? I am gluten intolerant and my daughter is veggie but will eat fish occasionally.

Are you asking about a grocery store to pick up snacks or gluten free and veggie restaurants?

Whole Foods Market in the Union Square area? Definitely no....maybe not even in SF?

We actually have 3 Whole Foods markets now in SF. One recently opened close to my house and probably raised my property value by $20K.

The closest Whole Food to Union Square would be at 4th and Harrison

Yes there's been Whole Foods in SF for a number of years. There are also Trader Joes in SF. But even at Safeway you can easily find gluten free food these days. In fact I found a whole section of gluten free food at my local Targets.

Also a lot of restaurants will have gluten free dishes.

Take the California St cable car to Van Ness, Whole Foods is half a block away. Bring your own reusable bags to save.

We actually have 4 Whole Foods - Haight St, Ocean Ave, 4th Street, and I forgot about the original on California and Franklin

There's a Bristol Farms grocery store in the Westfield Mall across the street from the Powell Cable Car turnaround. Its prices are comparable to Whole Foods.

I forgot to mention that Target, on the corner of 4th and Mission, has a medium sized grocery section. I have no idea whether it will have what you're looking for, but it's bound to be cheaper than Whole Foods and Bristol Farms.
